Update first. Then check visibility, prompt and inventory as three separate states.
Day 3 says Sarah's Bag was made significantly more visible and a general open-world pickup glitch was fixed. If you still cannot collect it, make one empty slot, approach slowly from more than one angle, and look for the interaction prompt. These are low-risk community checks, not proof that every remaining failure has the same cause.
Five low-risk checks after Day 3
- Confirm the August 27 patch has downloaded. The named visibility and pickup changes are part of the Day 3 developer note.
- Search at walking speed. Older reports describe a bag close in color to the ground and a small interaction target. Day 3 says visibility improved, but it does not publish an exact landmark.
- Change your approach angle. Sweep the crosshair across the suspected object from the side and front. Do not infer that a missing prompt means the item moved somewhere else.
- Free one inventory slot, then reload once. The empty-slot check comes from one detailed player report, not an official rule. It remains cheap and reversible if the patched pickup still fails.
- Stop after a clean retry. Repeatedly searching for an unspawned or non-interactable quest object is not useful. Check current discussions and report the symptom with your build time and inventory state.
What we cannot verify
The Day 3 note confirms a visibility change, but it does not provide an exact coordinate, landmark, image or guaranteed reset method. Demo-era discussions also mention the quest; their behavior cannot override the August 2026 Early Access build.
If the pickup works but the quest does not advance
That is a different failure state. Keep the bag in inventory, avoid dropping or transferring it, and do one clean reload. Then check the launch status page for any new mission-progression note. The current day-two note mentions mission 6 progression and `Towns Many Hands`, but it does not specifically name Sarah's Bag.
Sources and confidence
- Steam discussions — repeated Sarah's Bag questions and one detailed launch-week workaround report.
- Steam Community hub — current official announcements and live community surface.
- Official Day 3 patch note — first-quest visibility and open-world pickup statements.
Confidence: high that Day 3 named the visibility/pickup changes; medium that the task is a repeated player problem; low-to-medium for any individual workaround; unknown for an exact current-build location.
